March Break reading program PEI Public Libraries
During March Break 2011, the public libraries are inviting children of all ages to "Read Around the House". Participants can read anywhere in the world, in any language in which they are proficient and can read any material including graphic novels, Tumblebooks, non-fiction. Younger participants can be read to for 15 minutes. The twist is that they read somewhere different each day- it can be a bathroom the first day, the stairs the second.... as long as it is a safe location. They don't actually have to stay in the house but can read in the library, in dad or mom's office, the airplane, in the hotel lobby around the community, again as long as it is a safe location.
Anyone interested can register at their local library where they will receive a logsheet to record titles read and locations in which they read. For each day, participants earn one chocolate coin.
